Fort LeBoeuf School District Foundation Announces 2026 Friends of Education Award Recipient

Waterford, PA — April 17, 2026 — The Fort LeBoeuf School District Foundation is proud to announce
Hannah Chest the recipient of the 2026 Friends of Education Award, which has been awarded since 2017.

Established to celebrate individuals who make a meaningful impact on students, the Friends of Education
Award seeks nominations from across the community. Honorees may include educators, support professionals,
administrators, coaches, volunteers, and community members who go above and beyond to support student
success.

The Foundation received a number of outstanding nominations this year, each highlighting the dedication and
passion present throughout the Fort LeBoeuf community. The Foundation’s Board of Directors carefully
reviewed submissions before selecting Mrs. Chest for this year’s honor.
Mrs. Chest, an educator at Mill Village Elementary, was nominated by multiple community members who
praised her ability to meet each student’s individual needs while fostering an inclusive, engaging, and
supportive classroom environment. One nominator shared, “She takes the time to check in with students each
day, ensuring that if they need extra support or guidance, she is ready to provide it throughout the day and
beyond.” Another added, “She never views them as ‘just another student,’ but ensures each child feels
understood, heard, and valued.”

In addition to Mrs. Chest, several other deserving nominees were recognized for their contributions:
• Kaila Therasse, for her passion and dedication to teaching life skills and supporting students through
every challenge
• Jason Kostasek, for his critical role in maintaining seamless technology operations for staff and
students
• Kim Cook, for her creativity, leadership, and commitment to enriching student experiences
• Beverly McCall, for her compassionate support and advocacy for students as a paraprofessional
All nominees, along with the award recipient, were honored during last evening’s work-study meeting held in
the Fort LeBoeuf High School auditorium.
Upon receiving the award, Mrs. Chest shared that she was both “surprised and overwhelmed” by the
recognition.

As part of the honor, Mrs. Chest received a custom bison head trophy and an Amazon gift card. Her name will
also be permanently displayed on the Friends of Education Award plaque located in the District’s administration
office, joining past recipients who have made a lasting impact on the school community.

"Thanks to the financial aid of the Fort LeBoeuf Foundation, my peer and I were able to participate in the Lumiere Research Program where we were partnered up with a mentor from UPenn who guided us through the process of writing our own research paper for publication. I feel this experience will greatly help me as I begin my post-secondary education journey and it wouldn’t have been possible without the Foundation's support."
