Friends of Education Award Recipients 2021
For four years, the Fort LeBoeuf Foundation has been selecting a “Friends of Education Award” recipient as an individual who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of students at Fort LeBoeuf. The nominees come from the classroom, the athletic field, and from behind the scenes. They may be a district employee including teachers, coaches, and support staff or a volunteer and member of community. The Foundation is very proud and fortunate to recognize so many great individuals that work very hard and give so much to our students.
All this year’s five nominations were exceptional examples of what makes Fort LeBoeuf such a unique place, but two of the nominees stood out due to their roles and efforts during the pandemic. The Fort LeBeouf Foundation was proud to announce is year’s award on May 7 for Nurse Kim Sullivan and Chef Justin Tech.
Mrs. Sullivan School nurse at Waterford Elementary has played a pivotal role in implementing safety procedures, educating staff, and helping navigate the district through the effects of COVID-19. “She guides all of us in keeping physically distant and following guidelines to encourage healthy choices. She shares her expertise with the other nurses throughout the district and provides them with guidance based on her years of serving students in our district. She works beyond the school day and on weekends to help our community stay healthy. Kim is one of the reasons I am proud to be a part of FLB! Other districts are not so fortunate to have a school nurse and leader to assist during the ever changing times we are facing”
Chef Tech is our Food service Supervisor his efforts and leadership with his team to make sure students and families were fed and had access to healthy food during these difficult times has been exemplary. “He goes way beyond what is expected of him in his daily job description. From catering banquets, providing food for before and after school programs, to concession stands, dealing with the state for programs, summer lunch and lunches for Cyber School and fund raisers. He is well deserving of this and more.”
The remaining and deserving three nominees were the following:
Aimee Ferloin Kindergarten Teacher:
“Aimee is an incredible member of our FLB family. She isn’t usually recognized for all that she does because it’s often done unbeknownst to others. I think it’s time to let her know that we see her and truly appreciate all she does”
Heather Waite Paraprofessional in the Learning support classroom:
“Heather is more than deserving of an award for passion, love, caring going the extra mile, volunteering, donating “She makes a difference in each student bringing out the best they can be as well, showing them compassion and love as if they were her own children.
Cami Gorski Kindergarten Teacher:
“Cami is the most caring, patient and engaging teacher that we have ever met. Cami has a special way of connecting with her students. She has a big heart for her kiddos and for teaching”
The applicants can be nominated by anyone in our district, we start accepting nominees in November. Please join the Fort LeBoeuf Foundation in congratulating all this year’s nominees and thanking them for their efforts to make a difference in the lives of our students at Fort LeBoeuf.
