Each year the Fort LeBoeuf Foundation seeks to recognize an individual who goes above and beyond to make a lasting impact in the lives of Fort LeBoeuf students. Nominees include everyone from educators and administrators to support staff and aids to coaches and volunteers. Many deserving nominations were submitted this year and the Foundation chose this year’s recipient from among them. Congratulations to this year’s well-deserved winner, Mrs. Yvonne Best Proctor.
We would also like to congratulate all of this year’s nominees as well. Special congratulations go out to Rodney Monroe and Mark Munsee that are retiring. Thank you for all your years of service you will be greatly missed here at FLB.
We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful people in our district and community that truly care about our students! Here is what the nominators had to say about this year’s nominees and why they were nominated.
Yvonne Best-Proctor-WES Principal
Yvonne’s compassion and commitment to the students who are in her building is exceptional. She has created an environment that encourages students to want to go to school and learn. She provides countless opportunities for the students to grow not only academically but emotionally and socially. Yvonne has high but achievable expectations of her students. For the 14 years that I have had a student at WES Yvonne was with my children every time they needed her. She was there for their high points and their lows with the same love, empathy and pride no matter what the situation. She gave my children and all the students in WES the start they needed to have a successful school career. (Sarah Robertson)
Mark Munsee- High School Teacher
Mark is the kind of teacher who truly makes a difference in students’ lives. His classroom is a place where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. He’s constantly moving around the classroom, checking in with individual students, offering encouragement, and making sure everyone gets the support they need. His passion for what he does is obvious, not just in the way he teaches but in the way he connects with students on a personal level. He builds strong relationships that make students feel valued and goes out of his way to individualize instruction so that every student, no matter their skill level, has the opportunity to succeed. (Cody Patton)
Rodney Monroe-Bus Driver
Has been dedicated to our district for 43 years and supports the students outside of his role of the bus driver. (LeAnn Johnson)
Don Claypool -Resource Office
Officer Don goes above and beyond daily to not only help keep our building safe, but to make it an excellent work environment… Officer Don always is helping with EVERYTHING in our building. He goes out of his way to form relationships with us as a faculty, but especially with our students. He says hello to them and refers to them by name and has a genuine desire to make a difference in each of their lives! (Leah Johnson)
Aaron Jackson-Middle School Math Teacher
Mr. Jackson goes above and beyond for his students, encouraging, assisting, and developing them to achieve their personal best. Ask almost any student who has had Mr. Jackson, and you will understand how much he deserves the recognition for the time and effort that he puts forward in his room. He makes learning fun and engaging, he encourages students to continue to improve upon their skills and effort in school. He makes the Middle School truly a space where students can find success! (Dana Miller)
Anhelina Kotlyarova- Emotional Support Paraprofessional
Anhelina has a passion for helping others and also art. She mixes the two together whenever she can. She is always asking if she can share a new craft or activity with the students. She often works one on one with one of our students who struggles with emotional regulation and attention. (Meredith Beals)
Mark Rose-Coach, Community Volunteer
Mark is the epitome of a true leader and an incredible confidant. His ability to truly get to know each of his athletes is remarkable; he takes the time to understand not only their strengths and weaknesses but also their personal interests and passions. This deep connection fosters a sense of trust and respect, making him someone his athletes can rely on, both on and off the field. Mark’s steadfast nature and unwavering calmness in every situation make him a rock for his team, always level-headed, no matter the challenge. (Katie Stebick)
Jamie Travis-High School Autistic Support Teacher
She has provided countless opportunities for her students to enrich their education experience here at Fort LeBoeuf. She also takes her students on many outings to help them gain "real world" experience as well as fun activities. I have also witnessed her interact with her students. She does so in a way that shows them that she cares and values them. This translates to the student body as well; because Mrs. Travis treats her students with respect and compassion, the rest of the student body is equally welcoming and respectful. She is just overall a selfless person, always thinking of what she can do to help other people, and the students in her classroom benefit greatly from this. (Kara Suscheck)
Heather Waite -Life Skills Educational Paraprofessional, Coach
Mrs. Waite has the biggest heart. She is selfless, humble and a friend to everyone. Mrs. Waite promotes inclusion and acceptance by inviting students to join Unified Sports, and Unified Club. Mrs. Waite is a wonderful teacher. She is able to adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of each student. She conducts all of the cooking lessons in the classroom. Mrs. Waite runs the coat drive each year to collect coats for students who need them at the Wiley Community Charter School. During Covid, Mrs. Waite delivered lunches to students on her own time. Mrs. Waite has been granting wishes for years through the Make a Wish Program. (Heather Proctor)
Shari Wokulich -Emotional Support Paraprofessional
Shari goes above and beyond for the ES students. She is patient and truly tries to understand what each student needs and how to be there for them. She bakes them cookies, buys games for them to play, and is always finding ways to connect with the students. (Meredith Beals)
